The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) has recently released the amount of ONE MILLION PESOS (P1,000,000.00) as a scholarship allocation for the conduct of various community based training programs in Davao City and Davao del Sur under the Training for Work Scholarship Program. The target beneficiaries are 2,000 men and women of barangays who have not been reached by TESDA human resource interventions.
The training programs are scheduled for simultaneous conduct from September-October, 2013. These are in Welding, Plumbing, Carpentry, Construction Painting, Masonry, Refrigeration and Airconditioning, Computer Hardware Servicing, Food Processing, Domestic Appliances Repair, Dressmaking, Cellphone repair, Commercial Cooking, Baking and Pastry Production, Vermiculture, Hog Raising, Organic Farming.
The TESDA XI Technology Institutes Wangan National Agricultural School, Carmelo delos Cientos Sr., National Trade School, Regional Training Center-Korea Philippines Vocational Training Center, Davao and the Provincial Training Center, Davao have developed and shall bring the various training programs to the barangays.
As a start, close to five hundred (500) women, unemployed adults and out-of-school youth from barangay Maa, Davao City are to begin their respective trainings this month. The program is supported by the St. Francis of Assissi of Maa Parish through its Gagmayng Kristohanong Katilingban (GKK)
It is hoped that the training programs provided by TESDA XI shall lead to a productive economic activities of the beneficiaries through self-employment.
The other beneficiary barangays are Bucana, Toril, Daliao, Mintal, Marilog, Wangan the Peoples with Disabilities, families of the 10th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army in Davao City and Hagonoy, Davao del Sur.
